Our Inspiration

In 1989, Joyce Wetter lost her battle with breast cancer at just 49. Despite months of treatment, surgeries, and determination, she succumbed to this devastating disease. Witnessing her struggle and eventual passing profoundly impacted us. Her strength and the financial challenges she faced during her illness were life-changing experiences. This led us to our mission of helping others facing similar battles.

In 2009, our sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a single woman with a new job, she couldn't work due to the side effects of treatment and soon lost her insurance. Though there was hope for her recovery, the financial burden seemed insurmountable. Within weeks, our office assistant was also diagnosed. That’s when Help The Fight was born.

We started with a simple bake sale—an inclusive way for people from all walks of life to contribute to a meaningful cause. Lancaster County, home to many talented bakers, generously supported our first fundraiser. That bake sale continues to be a staple of our annual efforts.

Michelle Diaz

  • Michelle is a proud mama of two amazing boys who are her biggest motivation and the reason she pushes through every season of life with love and purpose. Being their mom has taught her patience, resilience, and the kind of compassion that comes from walking through life hand in hand with her kids. They’ve seen her overcome hard times, and she wants them to grow up knowing what strength, faith, and service really look like. Everything she does—at home, at work, and in her community—is rooted in the desire to show them how to love others well.

Michelle’s journey hasn’t been easy. She has faced some tough seasons, and she knows what it feels like to need support, compassion, and someone who shows up. She is blessed that God placed people in her life who loved her through her most challenging moments, and because of that, she feels called to be that person for others.

In her HR role, Michelle doesn’t see people as policies or numbers. She sees real lives, real struggles, and real stories. She strives to meet people where they are—with empathy, honesty, and heart. She believes workplaces should feel human, and she does everything she can to make that a reality.

Michelle’s relationship with Jesus guides everything she does. Her own transformation, including a journey toward better health and wellness, has shown her the importance of grace, discipline, and wholeness. It’s why she cares so deeply about helping others step into who God created them to be—mind, body, soul, and spirit.

Outside of work, Michelle pours into her community through various volunteer efforts and by creating moments that make people feel seen and valued. She loves planning heartfelt celebrations—retirements, birthday parties, baby showers, sendoffs, company events—anything that brings people together and reminds them they matter.

Michelle is truly honored to support Help The Fight. This mission speaks directly to her heart: showing up for people in their most difficult moments, offering love, strength, and hope, and standing in the gap the way others once stood for her.
